About the use case
Cambrex operates manufacturing sites across multiple countries. Because teams work in different languages, a significant amount of day-to-day communication — batch records, quality documents, tables, emails, internal notes — needs to move between languages quickly. Universal Translator is a general-purpose site-wide agent that handles any translation need: users simply attach a document or paste text, and the agent translates it on the spot.
The challenge
Cross-site communication moved slowly because language was a constant barrier.
Batch records locked in Italian
Documents produced at Cambrex's Milan site — including batch records and data from systems like TrackWise — were authored in Italian. QA/QC staff at English-speaking sites couldn't access them without manual translation.
No scalable translation process
Relying on bilingual staff or external translators created queues that slowed cross-site reviews, approvals, and knowledge sharing.
Structured data lost in translation
Tables and structured data from documents were especially time-consuming to translate accurately while preserving formatting.
